Blakeway North has been named one of the "Best Places to Work in TV" by Broadcast Magazine for the second year running.
We were honoured to celebrate with Nikki Lilly last week as she became the youngest person ever to receive the "BAFTA Special Award" at the British Academy Film and Television Arts Children's Awards.
Nikki, a teenage vlogger suffering from a rare life-debilitating condition called arteriovenous malformation, has told her inspiring story through three critically-acclaimed Blakeway North productions; the Emmy award-winning "My Life: Born to Vlog", BAFTA nominatied "My Life: I Will Survive", and acclaimed CBBC series "Nikki Lilly Meets..." where Nikki interviewed anyone and everyone from Theresa May to Andy Murray.
Nikki's bravery, honesty and resilient attitude were all the factors that led her to being selected for this most prestigious of all BAFTA awards, and we could not be more proud of her!
We are delighted to announce that Blakeway North's "My Life - I Will Survive" won the Best Documentary category at this year's O2 Media Awards. The programme - a sequel to Blakeway North's BAFTA and Emmy award-winning documentary "Born To Vlog" - followed young vlogger Nikki Lilly through a particularly challenging summer with her rare and debilitating medical condition.
It was another proud night for Blakeway North as "Life After My Brother's Murder" scooped the Best Current Affairs Documentary prize at the RTS North West Awards on on Saturday. The brutally honest film about greif and the affects of knife crime followed Channell Wallace on her on quest to understand why her brother was stabbed and murdered 13 years earlier, as she is asked to write a letter for the murderer's parole.
We are thrilled to announce that last night, Blakeway North was awarded its first Emmy award for CBBC film "My Life - Born to Vlog" featuring Nikki Lilly. Made with a mix of ob-doc style filming and Nikki's own video diaries and vlogs, the programme followed 12-year old Lilly for half a year as she flew to the United States every other month for complex surgery for Arteriovenous Malformation.
The "Kids Emmy" is the latest accolade for the film, which has already won The Prix Jeunesse Award, The Japan Prize and an RTS award. Nikki and her parents attended the event at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes along with producer/director Launa Kennett, production executive Alison Lewis and MD/Executive Producer Sarah Murch.
Of the award, Sarah Murch said "We are really thrilled - it is Blakeway North's first Emmy. Nikki is an incredible and inspiring girl and charting her story is a privelege. The award nonimations are a testament to Nikki and her wonderful family."
